Our Story

How we got here

Our story started on Harding’s campus a year before either of us was a student there. We met at a Harding summer program the summer before our senior year of high school, and we went home as friends.

That fall we both arrived at Harding as freshmen and kept finding our way back to each other: the same tables, the same friends, the same long conversations. Somewhere along the way we realized we liked each other, and it wasn’t long before we started dating.

On July 13, 2026, during a family vacation in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Nathan proposed at Fish Creek Falls. At the end of the hike, a mama moose wandered past with her twin calves, as if the day needed anything more. On July 30, 2027, we’ll make it official in the chapel at Southern Charm Estate, and we would love for you to be there.

Garden / Summer Formal

  • Please wear color. This is a wildflower sort of wedding, and we would love to see it in the photographs.
  • Late July in southwest Missouri is hot and humid, with highs around 90°F. Linen, cotton and other breathable fabrics will treat you kindly.
  • There is courtyard and lawn between the chapel and the reception hall, so block heels, wedges or flats will serve you far better than a stiletto.
Getting Here

Travel

A ten-acre private estate in the Ozarks, a little west of Springfield, with a chapel, a reception hall, courtyards and open lawn.

11189 Highway K, Mount Vernon, MO 65712

Driving Locally

Southern Charm Estate sits just off Highway K, in the country between Springfield and Joplin.

  • From Springfield, head west on I-44 toward Joplin — roughly a 30–35 minute drive.
  • From Joplin, head east on I-44 — roughly 40–45 minutes.
  • For the last few miles along Highway K, follow your GPS straight to the address. Cell service can be thin out here, so it is worth downloading the route before you set off.

Parking

Free parking is available on site at Southern Charm Estate.

Flying from Pittsburgh

There is no nonstop service from Pittsburgh. Every route connects once.

  • via Chicago O’Hare United or American — about 4 h 45 m — the fastest way here
  • via Atlanta Delta — about 5 h
  • via Charlotte American — about 5 h 15 m

Where to land

  • SGF Springfield–Branson National

The one to book — about 32 miles and 35 minutes from the venue.

  • JLN Joplin Regional

About 44 miles away with far fewer flights. Worth a look only if the fare is remarkable.

  • Rent a car. The venue is genuinely out in the country, and rideshare availability is limited.
  • The wedding is on a Friday, so we would fly in on Thursday and keep the morning free.

Driving from Pittsburgh

About 850 miles, or roughly 12½–13 hours behind the wheel.

  • I-70 West through Columbus and Indianapolis to St. Louis, then I-44 West to Mount Vernon.
  • Plenty of people split it with an overnight stop in Indianapolis or St. Louis, which turns the drive into two easy half-days.
Where to Stay

Rooms

We have not reserved a room block, so there is no group code to ask for — book whichever of these suits you best. Late July is peak travel season in the Branson area, so the earlier you book, the happier you will be.

Mount Vernon

Closest to the venue, and the simplest end to the night.

a short drive from the venue

McCanse House Bed & Breakfast

A restored Victorian house in town with only a few rooms. They take reservations by phone, so call early.

Springfield

The most convenient base if you are flying into SGF.

Springfield has a long run of familiar chain hotels along I-44 and out near the airport, at every price. Anything in that corridor puts you about 30–35 minutes from the venue.
